Great article on a subject that I have been close to for the past 17 years, The Counter Offer. Think about it, if a company only gives you a raise or promotion because you have another offer, then WHY didn’t they already pay you what you are worth? If more money or responsibility is the enticing factor, they should have had you in that role before with the proper compensation.
The trust bond is broken and they will eventually find someone else. Stats show 80% of the people who accept counteroffers are not employed in the same position a year later. Don’t do it!
